A stunning?filigree?pendant from the Edwardian (ca1910s) era! This gorgeous French made piece is crafted in platinum and adorns a beautiful 0.55ct old Mine Cut diamond surrounded by feminine wirework in a floral motif. The pendant, which is substantial in size, forms a flowing elongated shape with curved edges and an elaborate wirework interior design. The large middle stone is bezel set and acts as the center of a blooming flower, encircled by a fine petal wirework design. Approximately 0.50ctw of old Mine and Rose Cut diamonds?line a wonderful geometric pattern that frames the central flower, along with a dainty flower set at the top and bottom. Open petal-inspired wirework lines the four north-sout-east-west corners of the pendant, perfectly completing the stunning design, and the piece hangs from a matching screw bail lined with Rose Cut diamonds. The pendant was originally paired with a removable pin mechanism, however, this is no longer present. Stamped along the side is a French eagle head hallmark, which would typically indicate a gold article, except for when used in combination with a dog head hallmark. In the instance where both were present, it would have indicated that the piece was produced with both platinum and gold elements. The body of the pendant has been acid tested to assure that it is crafted in platinum so it is assumed that the screw-in pin backing and bail are crafted in gold. It's an absolutely beautiful pendant and would make an elegant accessory for special occasions!??
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2" long (including the bail) and?measures 1 1/4" wide.
Condition: The pendant remains in overall excellent antique condition. Besides normal wear, there is no serious damage to the?platinum setting and all of the diamond stones are intact and securely set. Due to the very fine nature of the filigree design, the handmade pendant is not fully symmetrical and some of the wirework is slightly misshapen. None of this is noticeable when the piece is worn, nor does it detract from the overall beauty. The bail screws into the pendant?securely and is in good condition. The back of the pendant displays two places to attach a?screw pin mechanism but this is no longer present.
