A?fob?is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself, making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket.?
A lovely?fob from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Round in shape, this equestrian-inspired piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and features a large onyx plaque at the center. One side of onyx stone has a smoothly polished surface, while the other displays the wonderful raised image of a gold horse head in profile, resting within a complimentary horseshoe. The onyx is bezel set in a simple gold frame, and a decorative swirled topper surmounts the top, attaching to a gold bail which is stamped "14K." A lovely piece, it is perfect for any fob or horse motif collector, and would look wonderful worn daily or for special occasions!
Measurements: The fob hangs a little less than 1 1/2" long, is 1 1/8" wide, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or raised horse image, and the onyx plaque is in fine condition, with no apparent chips.
